I’ve got some big news today – the polls are open to decide the 10th spot in the 2017 XXL Freshmen class! If you’re not familiar with the list, then here’s a bit of background. Started in 2008 by XXL Magazine , a hip-hop magazine founded in 1997, the freshmen class includes up-and-coming rappers and hip-hop artists. Not everyone featured on the list goes on to change the industry, but it’s generally a good indicator for who’s going to be the next big name in the genre.
While it hasn’t been revealed who’s the first nine names are, there are multiple artists worthy of your vote for the last remaining spot. In fact, a few have been mentioned or featured in my previous posts, including: Little Simz, Smino, Noname and Saba.
You have the potential to change a musician’s career by giving them this coveted title, so please vote! You have until April 2 at midnight to make your voice heard.
