Tunesday - Zhu & Gallant

I know I’ve been MIA the past couple of weeks, but that’s partially because I was at Coachella to see some of my favorite artists. For me, a couple of the top performances of the weekend were Zhu and Gallant.

Earlier this month, I wrote about Gallant and his debut album ‘Ology’ – if you didn’t listen before, you can listen here – and mentioned that he was going to blow up. Well, it looks like he’s well on his way as Billboard voted his performance to be the highlight of festival’s first weekend.

But today I want to highlight the other artist I mentioned, Zhu. While primarily an electronic music producer and singer, his music also mixes in R&B, hip hop/rap and funk. If that doesn’t make him sound interesting enough then it might be worth noting his first single “Faded was nominated for a Grammy. To get a better feel for his music and its tone, take a listen to his BBC AfterHours mix from last year. It’s very groovy).

Before wrapping this up, I have one last thing to mention. Zhu and Gallant have a song together called “Testarossa Music.” I encourage you all to give it a listen. Zhu sings the first verse then Gallant on the second.

Because I can’t get enough of these dudes and thought they were so good last weekend, I’ll be seeing them again tonight in Oakland. Who wants to join me!?

Keep on jammin’
