Tunesday: FARR
Happy Tunesday!
Today, I want to feature a new duo – FARR. While I’m not positive this is how they got their name, I do know the two live far away from one another on different sides of the Atlantic. One of the members (Roméo) is from Los Angeles, while the other (Linden Jay) is based out of London.
If you’re asking yourself – “How did these two even know about each other?” – then you’re not alone. I asked myself the same thing and did a little bit of research. I soon learned some of their mutual connections synched them up last year in a recording session, which took place in London. They must have hit it off because the two have continued writing songs together by any means necessary, including phone calls, emails, and Whatsapp Voice Notes and Messages. Based on what I’ve read so far, I think Linden producers and Roméo does vocals. Don’t quote me on that though…
Both grew up listening to soul music (as should everybody), so you’re going to hear that influence in their songs. Overall, I’d say they have a future R&B/hip hop sound with some hints of alternative, pop, and electronic. You can listen to their two singles below:
‘Down’ – Their first single, which was released a month ago. I personally prefer this track compared to their other single.
‘Blades’ – Released just four days ago (May 12th), this song also has little bit of a hip-hop feel.
If their third release is anything like these two, I can see these guys blowing up and making the festival season rounds in a year or two. They currently only have 325 followers on SoundCloud and 43,456 monthly listeners on Spotify, so beat the crowd and be one of the first to check them out!
Keep jammin’
